The single movement of Elements: II, for violin and cello, comprises an uninterrupted chain of nine sections (a prelude, seven variation-like sections, and final fanfare). All of the material can be traced back to section two, a fast, light, toccata section.

Elements: II, in addition to being a duo for violin and cello, can be played simultaneously with Elements: I, a work for solo piano. Together, the three parts create Elements: III, for piano trio.*
